About Janna
Hello. Glad you found me!
A thing to know is that my life’s passion and work consistently revolve around expression through words and images. I call myself a ‘Wordstress.’ I perceive the world through words and images, and that’s the way I express and depict the human experience. For the first time in my life, I feel tremendous freedom and curiosity, trying new forms of writing and photography, with uncertainty a welcomed part of the adventure.
I recently published my first book, “Me My Selfie & Eye – A Midlife Conversation About Lost Identity, Grief & Seeing Who You Are.” I’m proud of what it shares, how it’s helped people feel less alone, and how it truly resonates with both men and women. This was a major accomplishment, especially because I never thought I’d write a book. Which is why I understand people’s fears and hesitation about writing. I. Totally. Get. IT! And I will be beside you every milestone of the way.
I host a weekly podcast, “Eyedentity Talk” where I talk about identity, love, and the universe with dynamic, diverse people from all walks of life. Our enlivened conversations go DEEP!
Helping people make deep discoveries about themselves through guided writing is a gift I have. I shifted 25 years of editorial, publishing, and writing experience, love and passion, into intensive one-one-one work with individuals to connect them to their deepest truth through writing support, and exploration; I’ve witnessed unimaginable breakthroughs as a result of our work.
I can promise you: If we work together, through a class, an online course, or through one-on-one transformational writing coaching, on the other side of fear is FREEDOM! A freedom so profound your life will be forever changed. Occasionally I have openings for new clients. If you’ve always wanted to do more exploratory writing, are afraid, need more confidence, have stories to share, or just want to cultivate your own potential, let’s talk. Your voice and your stories are waiting for you!
I have two Facebook groups you may want to check out. The first is My Mundane: It has people from all over the world who post the objects, moments, and things in their lives that make them happy. This group continues to grow and inspire!
The second is Write Now – From Fear to Freedom. This group has daily word challenges, writing prompts, information about my writing classes, and is a lively place to explore Eyedentity through words, connection, and community.
I know in my heart that if you continue to show up, for your Self, words that have been waiting for you to greet them, will find you!
I was a successful magazine publisher for nearly a decade, and a communications consultant for over 25 years, serving small businesses, non-profits, and multi-million dollar companies by designing creative marketing strategies.
Aside from being a published author, podcast host, and creative writing teacher, I’m a public speaker, and present on a myriad of topics including identity, midlife, and how to discover your Self through words.
I live in Portland, Oregon, have two children, a great husband, and three cats. I’m currently pursing my Creative Writing MFA at the Pacific Northwest College of Art. I take hundreds of pictures of hummingbirds, I’m a tequila aficionado, 80’s-rock enthusiast, and recently denounced a narrative that I’m a plant assassin and gave into the immensely gratifying task of caring for plants. So far, so good….
